Patriot Women fall at PBC Tennis Tourney

AUGUSTA, GA – Eighth-ranked and third-seeded Columbus State University took two of three doubles matches and then won three singles matches in straight sets to earn a 5-2 win over 19th-ranked and sixth-seeded Francis Marion University, Friday afternoon (April 20) at the 2007 Peach Belt Conference Women’s Tennis Tournament.

Francis Marion (13-7) will face the USC Upstate/Augusta State University loser on Saturday at 8 a.m. in the losers’ bracket.

The Patriots gained an 8-4 win at No.3 doubles by Magda Jezovicova and Elizabeth Lee, while FMU dropped a close 9-8 decision at No.2 doubles.  FMU senior Kamini Murugaboopathy ran her singles record to 16-4 with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at the No.2 position.
