MARIETTA, OH – Both the Francis Marion University men’s and women’s cross country teams finished fifth at the Carl Broughton Invitational Meet hosted by Marietta College on Saturday (Sept. 15).
Otterbein College captured both team titles.
Junior Steven Holmes led the FMU men with a 13th-place finish as he finished the 8,000-meter race in 28:44.47. Freshman Ben Miller finished 29th in a time of 29:54.54. Other Patriot runners were Dan Brann in 31st place (29:59.60), Jerry Roth in 39th (30:35.20), Caleb Welch in 51st (32:18.60), Ariel Ortiz in 60th (34:08.95), and Chris Rice in 62nd (34:46.62).
Senior Codi Knoch led the Patriot women as she placed 17th with a time of 21:43.06 over the 5,000-meter course. Kelly May finished 23rd in a time of 22:17.18, while Amanda Doyle was 38th (23:28.03), Emma Doyle was 42nd (23:55.11), Kim Richardson was 45th (24:34.37), and Holly Todd was 51st (25:12.40).
