CHARLESTON, SC - The College of Charleston women’s soccer team scored three goals in a six-minute span and went on to defeat Francis Marion 4-1 in game four of the College of Charleston Cougar Classic, Sunday (Sept. 16) at Patriots Point Field in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

The Patriots (1-3-1) scored first when sophomore Kirby Stenard took a shot off a cross from Angela Salem in the sixth minute.
The Cougars quickly responded when Amanda Andrews passed a ball inside the penalty box to Christy Barrow who found the left corner of the net from five yards out (8:05).
In the 10th minute, CofC’s Megan Manthey was tripped inside the penalty box and awarded a penalty kick that resulted in the Cougars’ second goal.
Both squads made good defensive efforts. CofC had a narrow 7-6 shot advantage over Francis Marion.
Danielle Jordan took one of the Cougars’ five, first-half corner kicks and placed it on the left side of the Patriots’ goal box. Brittany Schneider battled for the ball and scored from nine yards out (13:41).
In the 33rd minute sophomore forward Christian Patton received a pass from Katie Browne and dribbled in to scored from six yards to bring the score to 4-1.
After a 15 minute delay for lightning the Cougars maintained possession for the majority of the second half and ended the game with an 11-7 shot advantage.
The Cougars improve to 3-2-0, and are undefeated at home. FMU plays at Coastal Carolina University on Sept. 21 at 8 p.m.
