April 22, 2008 - Francis Marion University senior center fielder Justin Greene has been named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week, for the period of April 14-20. Greene batted .615 (8-for-13) in a three-game series at ASU as Francis Marion won two of three games. He homered in every game, scored nine runs, and drove in nine.

March 20, 2008 - Freshmen baseball player Tyler Lehman was looking forward to having an extra year at Francis Marion University to complete his Biology major and he had anticipated that the additional redshirt baseball season would allow him more time to work on his game.

February 12, 2008 - Francis Marion University officials have announced the All-Tournament Team for this past weekend’s third-annual Swamp Fox Challenge, held Feb. 7-10 on FMU’s Cormell Field and at New Field in Hartsville. The team included four Patriots: LHP Zach Farry, RHP Ed Paul, SS Greg Phelps, and OF Justin Greene.

January 28, 2008 - Francis Marion University has been picked to finish fifth in the battle for the Peach Belt Conference baseball title, according to the annual preseason poll by the conference’s coaches. FMU, which did receive one first-place vote and finished only eight points out of second place, opens its 2008 schedule on Saturday (Feb. 2) at Valdosta State University.

January 28, 2008 - Junior catcher Jared Barkdoll (of Greencastle, Pa.) was recently selected to the 2008 preseason All-Peach Belt Conference baseball team. The team was chosen by the league’s Sports Information Directors and features players from seven of the 10 baseball-playing schools in the PBC.

Francis Marion Ranked 25th in preseason NCAA II Baseball Poll
The Francis Marion University baseball team is ranked 25th in the preseason 2008 Collegiate Baseball Magazine Division II Top 40 poll. The Patriots ended the 2007 season with a 36-18 record, the second-highest win total in the program’s history. FMU placed third during the Peach Belt Conference regular season and ended the year ranked 29th nationally. Eight of the squad’s losses were to nationally ranked opponents. Dating back to the 2005 season, the Patriots have appeared in 50 consecutive national polls. Five PBC squads are listed in the preseason poll, and five opponents on FMU’s 2008 schedule appear in the poll.

October 30, 2007 - The Francis Marion University baseball team recently held its sixth-annual blood drive on Oct. 29. Thirty-nine players participated, donating a total of 39 units to the Pee Dee chapter of the American Red Cross. Through this annual event, the baseball program has donated more then 190 units over the past six years.

October 10, 2007 - Former Francis Marion University baseball players returned to Florence and Cormell Field and enjoyed a very hospitable Alumni Weekend 2007. In the annual alumni game, the current cast of Patriot players beat the "Old Timers" 18-2.

August 20, 2007 - The Francis Marion University baseball program will hold its seventh-annual “Baseball Alumni Weekend” with activities on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6-7.

May 30, 2007 - Francis Marion University senior baseball outfielder Nick Stewart (Greenville, S.C.) and junior basketball point guard Brittany Young (Moncks Corner, S.C.) have been named to the second-annual Peach Belt Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. One male and one female student-athlete from each of the league’s 12 member schools were placed on the team.

May 28, 2007 - FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University junior pitcher Dylan Owen has been selected the NCAA Division II national Pitcher of the Year by two different voting groups. The 6-0 right-hander from Chesterfield topped both the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association All-America Team and the inaugural Daktronics Inc. All-America squad.

May 25, 2007 - Four Francis Marion University Patriots have been honored with the release of a pair of All-Region baseball teams. FMU junior pitcher Dylan Owen, senior catcher Michael Ward, and senior outfielder Nick Stewart were selected to the ABCA/Rawlings All-South Atlantic Region Team, while both Owen and junior relief pitcher Zach Farry was named to the Daktronics Inc. All-Region squad.

May 16, 2007 - Three Francis Marion University Patriots were recently named to the 2007 Peach Belt Conference All-Conference baseball team. Senior catcher Michael Ward, senior outfielder Nick Stewart, and junior right-handed pitcher Dylan Owen were all named to the All-PBC squad. Owen was also named the PBC “Pitcher of the Year” for the second consecutive year.

May 14, 2007 - The 22nd-ranked Francis Marion University baseball team learned early Monday morning that it was not among those selected to the NCAA Division II national tournament. FMU finished the year 36-18 and placed third during the Peach Belt Conference regular season. The Patriots were looking for their fourth NCAA invitation in the past five years.

February 1, 2007 - The sixth-ranked Francis Marion University baseball team will begin its 2007 season at home on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 3) with a doubleheader against Belmont Abbey College. The twinbill will start at noon on Cormell Field. Swamp Club passes are accepted, while general admission is $3 for adults and $2 for students. Ivey Jernigan of Timmonsville, a lead groundskeeper at FMU who helps maintain the Patriot athletic fields, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch to open the 2007 campaign.

The second-place selection equals last year’s selection as the highest ever for the Patriots since the PBC was formed. November 29, 2006 - Francis Marion University left-handed pitcher Ryan Ariail has signed a free agent contract with the Baltimore Orioles professional baseball club. Ariail was signed by scout Dominic Viola after a personal tryout. He is scheduled to report to the squad's spring training facility in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., early next year.

FMU Baseball Players Earn Summer All-Star Honors
July 13, 2006 - Three Francis Marion University baseball players have earned All-Star honors while playing in summer collegiate leagues. Right-handed pitcher Dylan Owen and outfielder Derek Kennamer have both been selected to the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game, which will be held July 18 in Fayetteville, N.C. Owen was named to the American squad and Kennamer to the National squad. Outfielder Nick Stewart was selected to play in the New York Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game, which was held July 3 in Watertown, N.Y. Stewart played on the East Division squad, and was also a participant in the league's Home Run Derby contest. FMU assistant coach Robbie Wilson served as an assistant coach for the West Division team at the NYCBL event.

Both players will have two years of eligibility at FMU.

Francis Marion ends its most successful season ever with a 41-18 mark.
