FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University remained 19th in this week’s Collegiate Baseball Magazine NCAA Division II Top 30 poll, released on Monday, as the Patriots prepare to conclude their regular-season schedule.
Francis Marion is currently 33-15 and third in the Peach Belt Conference standings at 16-11. FMU has won its last four contests and 12 of its last 14.
The Patriots will conclude their regular-season slate with a three-game PBC series at Lander University this week. The squads will play a single game on Thursday (May 3) at 6 p.m. and a doubleheader on Friday (May 4) at 1 p.m.
FMU will then compete in the six-team Peach Belt Conference Tournament, set for May 10-13 in Spartanburg, S.C.
Dating back to the 2005 season, the Patriots have appeared in 47 consecutive national polls.
Francis Marion junior right-handed pitcher Dylan Owen is 8-1 with the nation’s top earned run average (1.02). He ranks second in the nation in strikeouts with 102 in only 88.2 innings, while walking only 15.
At the plate, sophomore Jared Barkdoll leads the Patriot regulars with a .370 average and he owns a 15-game hitting streak.
