April 30, 2008 - The Francis Marion University women’s basketball team finished this past season as the top scoring team in NCAA Division II, while also leading the nation in thefts. Several Patriot players were also listed in the end-of-the-season statistical report, including junior point guard Kevina Ransom ranking atop the steals category.

March 14, 2008 - FLORENCE, S.C. – Third-seeded Clayton State University placed four players in double figures Friday night as the Lady Lakers’ claimed an 88-69 victory over sixth-seeded Francis Marion University in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Women’s basketball South Atlantic Regional host by Francis Marion in the Smith University Center.

March 9, 2008 - AIKEN, SC - Lander University placed five players in double figures and the Bearcats raced to a 20-point halftime margin en route to a 93-73 win over top-seeded Francis Marion University, Saturday afternoon (March 8) in the semifinals of the Peach Belt Conference Women's Basketball Tournament.

March 6, 2008 - AIKEN, SC - Sophomore reserve forward Yasmean Dixon scored a career-high 20 points and grabbed six rebounds to help lead top-seeded Francis Marion University to an 84-75 win over eighth-seeded North Georgia College & State University, Thursday evening (March 6) in the quarterfinal round of the Peach Belt Conference Women's Basketball Tournament.

March 4, 2008 - Francis Marion University senior guard Brittany Young was named to the 2008 All-Peach Belt Conference Team, while women’s coach Heather Macy was named the conference’s “Coach of the Year,” and forward Simel Boyd was named the men’s basketball “Freshman of the Year.”

February 28, 2008 - FLORENCE, SC – With a chance to win the Peach Belt Conference regular-season title, 23rd-ranked Francis Marion University could not hold an 11-point halftime lead and lost at Armstrong Atlantic State University 78-65, Wednesday night (Feb. 27) in women’s action.

February 24, 2008 - FLORENCE, SC – Reserve forward Creshenda Singletary scored 15 points to lead four Francis Marion University players in double figures as the 23rd-ranked Patriots defeated Georgia College & State University 95-67, Saturday evening (Feb. 23) in Peach Belt Conference women’s action.

February 20, 2008 - AUGUSTA, GA – Rebounding from its worst defeat of the year, and first at home, the 23rd-ranked Francis Marion University women’s basketball squad placed five players in double figures to claim an 87-76 road win at Augusta State University on Wednesday night (Feb. 20) and in the process regained sole possession of first place in the Peach Belt Conference.

February 14, 2008 - FLORENCE, SC – Senior guard Brittany Young scored a game-high 21 points and junior forward Crenshenda Singletary scored all 10 of her points in the second half as 25th-ranked Francis Marion University pulled away for an 85-75 Peach Belt Conference win over UNC Pembroke, Wednesday night (Feb. 13) in women’s action.

January 31, 2008 - Francis Marion University senior guard Brittany Young, a native of Moncks Corner, became the 24th Patriot cager to surpass the 1,000-point mark when she scored a season-high 22 points in a 113-103 win at Lander University on Wednesday evening (Jan. 30). With eight more assists, she will become only the fourth Patriots to amass 1,000 points and 500 assists.

January 28, 2008 - Francis Marion University junior point guard Kevina Ransom has been named the Peach Belt Conference women’s basketball “Player of the Week” for the week of Jan. 21-27.
Ransom, a 5-5 native of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., averaged 20 points, 8.5 assists, 6.0 steals, and 4.0 rebounds in two games last week for the streaking Patriots.

January 29, 2008 - The Francis Marion University women’s basketball team re-entered the national rankings this week at the No. 22 position in this week’s USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division II Top 25 poll, released Tuesday afternoon (Jan. 29). FMU travels to Greenwood on Wednesday to face Lander in a 5:30 p.m. tip-off with first place going to the victor. November 9, 2007 - The Francis Marion University women’s basketball squad and head coach Heather Macy are sponsoring Heather’s Hoopsters Kid’s Club during the 2007-08 season. The program is open to youth ages kindergarten through eighth grade.

May 30, 2007 - Francis Marion University senior baseball outfielder Nick Stewart (Greenville, S.C.) and junior basketball point guard Brittany Young (Moncks Corner, S.C.) have been named to the second-annual Peach Belt Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. One male and one female student-athlete from each of the league’s 12 member schools were placed on the team.
