AUGUSTA, GA – The Francis Marion University men’s and women’s cross country teams placed seventh and eighth respectively at the Jaguar Invitational Meet hosted by Augusta State University on Saturday (Sept. 22).
Columbus State University earned the team titles in both races.
Junior Steven Holmes again led the FMU men with a 29th-place finish as he toured the 10,000-meter course in 38:15.81. Dan Brann was the second FMU finisher as he placed 40th in 40:05.83, followed by Ben Miller in 42nd (40:53.18), Jerry Roth in 46th (41:30.71), Ariel Ortiz in 51st (43:35.79), Caleb Welch in 53rd (45:22.80), Chris Rice in 56th (46:03.46), Michael Bonner in 57th (47:54.89), TJ Simmons in 59th (48:44.14), and Kyle Green in 60th (49:36.88).
Senior Codi Knoch again paced the Patriot women as she finished 12th with a time of 26:52.46 over the 6,000-meter course. Kelly May finished 45th in a time of 28:55.52, while Amanda Doyle was 47th (28:59.73), Emma Doyle was 61st (30:10.36), and Holly Todd was 71st (30:56.08).
The Patriots will next run in the Hagan Stone Classic in Greensboro, N.C., on Oct. 6.
