April 22, 2008 - Amid poor weather conditions, Francis Marion University compiled a 314 team score and moved up two positions to finish fifth after the final round of the 32nd-annual Rutherford Intercollegiate Tournament, hosted by Penn State University. The event was the final of the 2007-08 campaign for the Patriots.

April 16, 2008 - CHARLOTTE, NC - The Francis Marion University golf team shot a final-round 302 team score to move up one position and finish 10th at the Palisades Collegiate Classic.

April 7, 2008 - GREENVILLE, N.C. – Junior Andrew Pitcher carded a final-round two-under-par 70 and sophomore Christopher Couch shot a one-under 71 on Sunday to help rally Francis Marion University to a third-place finish at the rain-shortened Ironwood Pirate Intercollegiate Golf Tournament hosted by East Carolina University.

March 19, 2008 - WILLIAMSBURG, VA – In just its first year as a full-fledged NCAA Division I program, the Francis Marion University golf team captured its first team win at that level by finishing seven strokes ahead of a 19-team field at the First Market Bank Intercollegiate Tournament, hosted by the College of William & Mary.

March 12, 2008 - AIKEN, S.C.-- Chattanooga completed their wire-to-wire runaway victory of the 11th Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate on Tuesday with a final round of 282. The 16th-ranked Mocs (+10) won the event by 30 strokes over #29 Virginia Tech (+40), while Francis Marion plcaed seventh.

February 26, 2008 - Led by individual medalist Jimmy Lytle, Elon University rallied over the final 18 holes to claim a one-stroke win over Furman University at the third-annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate men’s golf tournament, hosted by Francis Marion University on Hilton Head Island. The final round of the two-day, 54-hole event was played on Tuesday (Feb. 26) on the par 72, 6,828-yard Wexford Plantation course.

February 25, 2008 - Paced by junior Garrett Schneider, Furman University holds a four-stroke lead in the team standings after Monday’s opening two rounds of the third-annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate men’s golf tournament, while the host team, Francis Marion University, is tied for sixth position 14 strokes back. The final round of the two-day, 54-hole event will be played on Tuesday (Feb. 26).

February 25, 2008 - The Francis Marion University golf team will play host to the third-annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate Tournament, Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 25-26), on Hilton Head Island. The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.

November 7, 2007 - Cashiers, N.C. – Battling blustery conditions that included high temperatures in the mid-40s with wind gusts upwards of 20 mph, Francis Marion University fired a final-round 301 team score to finish seventh at the WCU Intercollegiate Golf Tournament, presented by Macon Bank, and played on the par 71, 6,767-yard Country Club of Sapphire Valley course.

September 27, 2007 - Despite a final-round one-under-par 71 by sophomore Christopher Couch, Francis Marion University fell back two positions to finish ninth in the final team standings at the Adams Cup of Newport Tournament, hosted by the University of Rhode Island.

September 18, 2007 - Led by sub-par, final-round scores from Jonathan Bowden (70), Chris Gilliland (70), and Austin Reeves (71), Furman University rallied from 13 strokes back over the final 18 holes to capture the team championship at the 23rd-annual Raines Development Group Intercollegiate Tournament. Francis Marion University, the host school and leader after the first 18 holes, finished fifth.

July 9, 2007 - Former Francis Marion University men’s basketball and golf coach Tim Watson died on July 5 in a Florence hospital after an illness. He was buried July 8 in Woodside Cemetery.
