March 19, 2008 - WILLIAMSBURG, VA – In just its first year as a full-fledged NCAA Division I program, the Francis Marion University golf team captured its first team win at that level by finishing seven strokes ahead of a 19-team field at the First Market Bank Intercollegiate Tournament, hosted by the College of William & Mary.

September 14, 2007 - The Francis Marion University golf team will play host to the 23rd-annual Raines Development Group Intercollegiate Tournament, Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 17-18), at the Country Club of South Carolina.

September 6, 2007 - The Francis Marion University men’s golf team will embark upon its first season as a full-fledged NCAA Division I member on Monday (Sept. 10) when the Patriots compete in the 54-hole Scenic City Invitational hosted by the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.

July 9, 2007 - Former Francis Marion University men’s basketball and golf coach Tim Watson died on July 5 in a Florence hospital after an illness. He was buried July 8 in Woodside Cemetery.

February 25, 2007 - The Francis Marion University golf team will play host to the second-annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate Tournament, Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 26-27), on Hilton Head Island. The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.

September 15, 2006 - The Francis Marion University golf team will play host to the 22nd-annual Raines Development Group Intercollegiate Tournament, Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 18-19), at the Country Club of South Carolina. The 54-hole event will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. Play will begin on Monday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The CCSC course is a par 72 layout measured at 7,062 yards.

September 1, 2006 - Francis Marion University golf coach Mark Gaynor has announced the addition of two players, Jonathan Lavin of Askim, Sweden, and Peter McGibney of Westport, Conn., to the Patriot program. Both will enroll this fall and play for FMU in 2006-07.

July 10, 2006 - Francis Marion University golf coach Mark Gaynor has announced that his program’s sixth-annual Corporate Challenge golf tournament, sponsored by Branch Banking and Trust Company (BB&T), will take place Sept. 7-8. The 36-hole event will again be hosted by The Country Club of South Carolina in Florence.

June 6, 2006 - Francis Marion University sophomore Jacob Tveit is among 13 golfers named to the 2005-06 Division I Independent Men's Golf All-Academic Team announced on Tuesday.

June 2, 2006 - Francis Marion University seniors Adam Hart, Luke Hart, and Aengus McAllister have been named to the 2006 Division I All-Independent Men’s Golf Team. The Hart twins from Blythewood, S.C., were selected to the third team, while McAllister received honorable mention recognition.

April 30, 2006 - Although bettering Saturday's second-round score by two strokes, Francis Marion University fell to third place after Sunday's final round at the Division I Independent Men's Golf Championships. The 54-hole event was played on the par 72, 7,264-yard Pelican Lakes Golf & Country Club course in Windsor, Colo.

January 27, 2006 - The Francis Marion University golf team will begin the 2006 portion of its schedule, Feb. 13-14, at the Matlock Collegiate Classic, hosted by Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Fla.

January 9, 2006 - Adam and Luke Hart, twin brothers from Blythewood, S.C., are seniors on Francis Marion University's golf team. One of their last options four years ago was to play golf at FMU. Adam and Luke Hart now contend it was the right choice as the two lead Francis Marion into its first year of NCAA Division I competition.

September 8, 2005 - The fifth-annual Branch Banking and Trust Company (BB&T) Corporate Challenge golf tournament to benefit the Francis Marion University golf program will be held Thursday and Friday (Sept. 8-9) at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence.

August 29, 2005 - The Francis Marion University golf team has announced the field of competitors for its two home tournaments during the 2005-06 season.

August 9, 2005 - Francis Marion University learned Monday (Aug. 8) that the NCAA has accepted its petition to move the Patriot golf and women's soccer programs from Division II affiliation to Division I.
