FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University golf team will play host to the second-annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate Tournament, Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 26-27), on Hilton Head Island. The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.

The event will begin the spring season for FMU as the Patriot golf team completes its second year of transitioning from NCAA Division II membership to Division I affiliation.

The Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate field will include Francis Marion, Davidson College, East Carolina University, Eastern Michigan University, Furman University, George Washington University, University of Iowa, Marquette University, Mercer University, Miami University (Ohio), Northern Illinois University, USC Aiken, University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, University of Toledo, and Wofford College.

USCA won last year’s event.

Francis Marion posted a 25-42 mark during 2006 fall play.
