April 25, 2008 - Francis Marion University women’s soccer coach Marty Beall has announced the program’s freshmen class for the 2008 season which consists of nine players: back Erin Breen of Martinsburg, W.V.; goalkeeper Casey Durham of Waldorf, Md.; forward Amanda Hall of Anchorage, Alaska; midfielder Caitlyn Margusity of Pottstown, Pa., back Rebecca McQuay of Baltimore, Md.; forward Emily Myers of Louisville, Ky.; back Dali Sterling of Augusta, Ga., forward/back Stephanie Squirewell of Columbia, and forward Kiley Williams of Shavertown, Pa.

January 14, 2008 - Three Francis Marion University women’s soccer players – junior back Brandi Bonifay, junior midfielder Kiersten Nedervelt, and senior back Jody Rhoderick – have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Scholar All-South Region Team. All three earned honorable-mention recognition.

December 12, 2007 - The Francis Marion University women’s soccer team finished 2007 as the 15th highest scoring team in NCAA Division I, while Patriot senior Ashley Fortune led all of Division I in assists, according to the end-of-the-season statistical report.

December 4, 2007 - For the fourth consecutive year, the Francis Marion University women’s soccer team has earned a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award, this time ranking third out of all 314 NCAA Division I women’s programs. These most recent awards are for the 2006-07 school year. FMU ranked sixth among the more than 600 schools that sponsor women’s soccer (all divisions) with a cumulative 3.59 team GPA for the academic year.

November 9, 2007 - The Francis Marion University women's soccer team recently visited with children at the McLeod Regional Medical Center to spread some Halloween "cheer."

November 2, 2007 - Senior Ashley Fortune and sophomore Kirby Stenard each scored a pair of goals to lead Francis Marion University to a season-ending 5-1 win over Campbell University, Friday night (Nov. 2) in women’s college soccer action. Francis Marion ends its first year as a full-fledged NCAA Division I member with a 10-7-1 record. It marks the Patriots’ 12th season with double-digit wins in only 13 years of existence.

October 29, 2007 - CARY, N.C. – Lindsay Vera scored once and assisted on another goal in leading the NC State women’s soccer team to a 3-0 win over visiting Francis Marion University, Sunday afternoon (Oct. 28) at SAS Soccer Field No. 2.

October 26, 2007 - FLORENCE, S.C. – Freshman midfielder M.A. Burrows scored a pair of second-half goals, the first tallies of her career, and Francis Marion University claimed a soggy 3-1 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Friday afternoon (Oct. 26) in women’s soccer action.

October 24, 2007 - Junior midfielder Kiersten Nedervelt scored the first two goals of her career to help lead Francis Marion University to a 4-0 road win at South Carolina State University, Tuesday night (Oct. 23) in women’s soccer action. FMU (8-6-1) outshot the Bulldogs 21-6 and the Patriots took the only two corner kicks of the match.

October 21, 2007 - Senior forward Ashley Fortune set an NCAA single-match record for assists with eight, while also scoring four times to equal the NCAA Division I single-game mark for total points (16), as Francis Marion University rolled to a 14-0 shutout of Howard University, Sunday afternoon (Oct. 21) in women’s soccer action. FMU (7-6-1) celebrated Senior Day with its highest scoring output as an NCAA Division I member, and the second-highest in team history.

October 20, 2007 - Mallory Neff scored off an assist from Christina McDonald in the 56th minute to give Liberty University a 1-0 victory over Francis Marion University, Thursday evening (Oct. 18) in a non-conference women’s soccer match at Liberty Soccer Field. FMU drops to 6-6-1.

October 14, 2007 - Sophomore Kirby Stenard scored the match’s lone goal 24 seconds into the second half and Francis Marion University went on to claim a 1-0 victory over visiting Longwood University, Sunday afternoon (Oct. 14) in women’s college soccer action. FMU (6-5-1) wins its second consecutive match and registers its fourth shutout of 2007.

October 12, 2007 - Senior Ashley Fortune scored 1:33 into the second overtime period to give Francis Marion University a hard-fought 2-1 win over High Point University, Friday afternoon (Oct. 12) in women’s college soccer action. FMU evens it record at 5-5-1.

October 8, 2007 - Sophomore Blakely Low scored a pair of second-half goals and Davidson College improved its winning streak to seven straight after a 4-0 victory over Francis Marion University, Sunday afternoon (Oct. 7) at Alumni Stadium. FMU falls to 4-5-1 on the year.

September 30, 2007 - East Carolina University scored a goal in each half, albeit in a span of 1:42, to down Francis Marion University 2-0, Saturday afternoon (Sept. 29) in women’s soccer action at Bunting Field.

September 27, 2007 - Senior goalkeeper Jacque Sutphin recorded four saves and posted her third consecutive shutout as she enjoyed a record-setting afternoon and Francis Marion University blanked UNC Asheville 2-0, Wednesday (Sept. 26) in women’s college soccer action.

September 23, 2007 - Sophomore Angela Salem corralled a loose ball in the box and tapped it into the goal and Francis Marion University rode that early score to a 1-0 victory over Presbyterian College, Sunday afternoon (Sept. 23) in women’s college soccer action.

September 22, 2007 - Sophomore Kirby Stenard scored a goal in each half as Francis Marion University blanked Coastal Carolina University 4-0, Friday night (Sept. 21) in women’s college soccer action. FMU, which hosts Presbyterian College on Sunday at 2 p.m., improves to 2-3-1.

September 18, 2007 - The College of Charleston women’s soccer team scored three goals in a six-minute span and went on to defeat Francis Marion 4-1 in game four of the College of Charleston Cougar Classic, Sunday (Sept. 16) at Patriots Point Field in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

September 14, 2007 - UNC Wilmington scored three goals in a five-minute span early in the second half and went on to edge Francis Marion University 5-3, Friday evening (Sept. 14) in game one of the College of Charleston Cougar Women's Soccer Classic at Patriots Point Field in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

September 7, 2007 - Ninth-ranked Florida State University scored three goals in a 1:31 span midway through the first half and went on to a 10-0 shutout of Francis Marion University, Friday evening (Sept. 7) in women’s college soccer action. FMU drops to 1-1-1 after its first-ever match with a nationally ranked opponent at the NCAA Division I level. The loss also snapped the Patriots’ eight-match unbeaten streak (7-0-1) that extended back to Oct. 7, 2006.

September 6, 2007 - For the first time in its brief NCAA Division I existence, the Francis Marion University women’s soccer team will battle a nationally ranked opponent when the Patriots take on ninth-ranked Florida State University on Friday evening (Sept. 7) in Tallahassee. The match will kick-off at 7 p.m. at the 1,500-seat Seminole Soccer Complex. The game will be available for a fee on ACC Select at http://fsu.playonsports.tv/

September 2, 2007 - Sophomore forward Kirby Stenard scored twice and assisted on a third goal as Francis Marion University extended its unbeaten streak to eight matches with a 4-1 win over Gardner-Webb University, Sunday afternoon (Sept. 2) in women’s college soccer action. FMU, now 1-0-1, has not lost since Oct. 7 of last season, and owns one of the nation’s longest current unbeaten streaks.

December 6, 2006 - The Francis Marion University women's soccer team ended the 2006 campaign as the fourth most improved team in NCAA Division I according to Somis Sports. The Patriots, in their second year of transitioning from Division II to Division I, recorded an 11-5-3 mark this past season, in contrast to a 5-9-1 record in 2005.
