FMU's Greenaway Named to All-Region Soccer Team
December 12, 2005 - FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University senior back Mike Greenaway has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Southeast Region Team for the third straight year.
Greenaway, a native of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, was selected to the 11-member second team. He was a first-team pick in 2004 and a third-team choice in 2003.
Greenaway missed two of the team's first six matches with an injury, but started the other 18 matches and anchored the Patriot defense. He scored three goals on 16 shots, including the match-winner against local-rival Coker College, and assisted on one goal. He ended his career with seven goals and four assists.
Earlier this fall, he was named to the All-Peach Belt Conference Team for the third consecutive year and was selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III Team for the College Division (second team) for the second time.
The FMU men's soccer team finished the year 8-11-1 against a difficult schedule that included nine matches against nationally ranked opponents. The Patriots advanced to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament semifinals.
