FMU improves to 7-1 and ups its record during the month of February to 108-13 over the past 13 seasons. Queens falls to 0-4.
The Patriots rapped out 11 hits and took advantage of seven Queens’ errors in the opener to win 14-1 in five innings. Wofford had two hits, scored twice, and drove home one run. Junior infielder Shannan Tyson went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored from her leadoff position.
Wolf allowed four hits and no runs in picking up the game one win. She also hit a 2-run single in FMU’s seven-run first inning.
Sophomore Megan Campbell went 2-for-2 and scored Queens’ lone run in the first game. Righty Candi Marshburn (0-1) was the losing pitcher.
The second game took six innings before FMU achieved the eight-run mercy rule.
Wolf (6-1) went the distance, while allowing four singles, one unearned run, and striking out six with no walks.
Wofford tallied three hits, drove in three runs, and scored once. Senior shortstop Allie Aleman smoked a two-run homer in the first inning, while center fielder Lakyn Bendle had two hits, one RBI, and scored three times in the second game.
Marshburn paced the Royals in game two with a pair of hits. Amanda Bowman scored Queens’ one run in the fifth inning when she stole home. Brittany Stephens (0-2) was tagged with the loss, although four of the runs she allowed were unearned.
FMU will play host to Wingate University for a doubleheader on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Queens will entertain Lenoir-Rhyne College on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
