FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University Athletic Department will hold its 10th-annual Swamp Fox Club Benefit Silent Auction on Saturday (March 1) as part of FMU’s 2008 Homecoming celebration.

The auction is being held in conjunction with Saturday’s men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader with Clayton State University. The women’s game will begin at 2 p.m., followed by the men’s contest at 4 p.m.

The silent auction will begin at 1:30 p.m. and end at halftime of the men’s basketball contest (approximately 5 p.m.). It will be held in the Smith University Center gymnasium’s north end zone and admission is free.

Participants will have the opportunity to place bids on items in the silent auction until bidding closes at about 5 p.m., and then the merchandise will be awarded.

All proceeds from the event will go to assist student-athletes and the Patriot athletic program. This year, nearly 100 items have been donated from local and national outlets.

Among the items in the auction will be gift certificates, golf packages, sports apparel, sports training sessions, and numerous autographed items (Eric Gordon & D.J. White Indianan University basketball, Bobby Cremmins basketball, Fisher DeBerry football, Bobby Richardson baseball).
