May 9, 2008 - Francis Marion University sophomore Klara Vitkova won her final three games at No. 4 singles to take a 6-4, 6-4 win and clinch a 5-3 win for the seventh-ranked Patriots over 10th-ranked Columbus State University, Friday afternoon (May 9) in a second-round match of the NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis National Tournament. The Patriots up their program-best record to 22-2 and advance to the Division II national finals (Sweet 16) for the first time in the program’s history. The nationals will be held May 14-17 in Houston, Texas.

May 8, 2008 - Paced by senior Sarka Vitkova, seventh-ranked Francis Marion University blanked 28th-ranked Erskine College 6-0, Thursday morning (May 8) in a first-round match of the NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis National Tournament. The Patriots improve to 21-2 and set a new school record for wins in a season. FMU advances to face Columbus State University in a second-round match on Friday at 10 a.m. on the Patriots' John Kassab Courts.

April 30, 2008 - The Francis Marion University men’s and women’s tennis teams learned late on Wednesday (April 30) that they both have earned invitations to participate in the NCAA Division II Tournament, with the Patriot women set to serve as a first- and second-round tournament host. This marks the third straight trip for the FMU women, and the eighth in the past 14 years. The Patriot men missed out on last year’s tournament but will be participating for the 12th time in the past 14 seasons.

April 25, 2008 - The second-ranked and top-seeded Armstrong Atlantic State University women's tennis team captured a fifth straight Peach Belt Conference Tournament title with a 5-1 defeat of ninth-ranked and third-seeded Francis Marion University, Sunday (April 20) in Savannah spoiling the Patriots' first-ever trip to the championship match.

April 19, 2008 - The ninth-ranked Francis Marion University women's tennis team rallied from a 4-3 deficit with wins in the final two singles matches to upset eighth-ranked and second-seeded Clayton State University 5-4, Saturday afternoon (April 19) at the 2008 Peach Belt Conference Tennis Tournament in Savannah, Ga. The 19th-ranked and fourth-seeded FMU men blanked eighth-seeded North Georgia College & State University 5-0 on Saturday.
The third-seeded Patriots women improve to 20-1 and equal the school record for wins in a season set in 2006. FMU advances to the tournament title match for the first time ever and will face second-ranked and top-seeded Armstrong Atlantic State University (25-1), Sunday at 10 a.m. at the AASU Tennis Complex.

April 18, 2008 - SAVANNAH, Ga. – Seven of the eight top-seeded teams at the
2008 Peach Belt Conference Tennis Championships after the first day of
action on Friday at the AASU Tennis Complex in Savannah. Host Armstrong
Atlantic State, the top seed in both brackets, did not drop a point in
their first-round wins.

March 28, 2008 - AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Augusta State Jaguars split with the Francis Marion Patriots Thursday, March 27, for Senior Day at the Newman Tennis Center. Senior netters Arthur Figueiro, Sergi Mullor and Laura Ferreira all competed in there last home game at ASU.

March 23, 2008 - Dahlonega, GA – North Georgia College & State University fell 9-0 to the 10th-ranked and undefeated Francis Marion University women’s tennis team, and the 15th-ranked Patriots down the Saints 7-2 in men’s tennis Sunday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference action.

March 23, 2008 - MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – With each match taking a 7-2 score, the Georgia College & State University tennis squads split with Francis Marion University today (March 22) at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility. The No. 22 Bobcat men upset No. 15 FMU, while the No. 10 Patriot women topped No. 15 GCSU.

March 7, 2008 - FLORENCE, SC - The 15th-ranked Francis Marion University women's tennis team remained unbeaten with a 9-0 blanking of Tusculum College on Thursday afternoon, while the 25th-ranked Patriot men downed the 35th-ranked Tusculum men 7-2.

February 18, 2008 - MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The nationally ranked Francis Marion University tennis teams both remained unbeaten by sweeping matches from non-conference foe Mount Olive College on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 17). The 15th-ranked Patriot women blanked Mount Olive 6-0, while 25th-ranked FMU men beat the 40th-ranked Mount Olive men 7-2.

February 29, 2008 - Francis Marion University seniors Franklyn Emmanuel and Sarka Vitkova have been named to their respective Peach Belt Conference preseason All-Conference men’s and women’s tennis teams. Emmanuel was one of seven players on the men’s squad, while Vitkova was one of six on the women’s team.
