FLORENCE, SC - Francis Marion University senior Franklyn Emmanuel has been selected as the Peach Belt Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 3-10.
The 20th-ranked singles player in the nation, Emmanuel went 3-0 last week in both singles and doubles play as FMU beat three nationally-ranked opponents. He swept 35th-ranked Tusculum’s Nic Biglow 6-3, 6-2; 27th-ranked Kutztown’s Lukas Labitsch 6-2, 6-3 and 38th-ranked Ferris State’s Lewis DeGeneault 6-3, 6-4.
A native of Colombo, Sri Lanka, he is also ranked 11th in the nation in doubles and his perfect mark in doubles play was accomplished with three different partners.
Emmanuel has helped FMU to an 11-1 record and a No. 15 team national ranking. For the season, he owns a 10-1 singles record at the No. 1 position and a 9-3 doubles record.
