Patriots Soar in New Polls
FLORENCE, S.C. – With the release of three new NCAA Division II national polls, two Francis Marion University sports teams are ranked in the Top 10 with a third squad knocking on the door at No. 11.

The FMU baseball team, with a 27-11 record, is ranked ninth in this week's Collegiate Baseball Magazine NCAA Division II Top 30 poll.

Francis Marion will conclude a three-game Peach Belt Conference series against 25th-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University, Monday at 2 p.m. Dating back to last season, the Patriots have appeared in 25 consecutive national polls.

The Patriot men's tennis team (16-1) remains eighth in the latest Fila Collegiate Tennis Rankings (NCAA Division II Top 40), while the Patriot women (17-4) move up two spots to 11th position.

The Patriot men have won 15 straight matches and enter this week's Peach Belt Conference Tournament as the No. 3 seed. The FMU women have won 10 consecutive matches en route to the program's best-ever record. They will be the fourth seed in this week's tournament.

Francis Marion will serve as host of the tennis tournament, Thursday through Saturday, at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter. Admission to the tournament is free.
