FLORENCE, S.C. – For the second time in three weeks, Francis Marion University junior outside hitter Jessica Lombardi has been selected as the Peach Belt Conference women’s volleyball Player of the Week, this time for the week of Oct. 8-14.
The Massillon, Ohio, native averaged 4.50 kills, 4.58 digs, 0.92 blocks, and 0.33 service aces per game in three matches last week.
Lombardi had a true double-double with 20 kills and 20 digs in a win over local-rival Coker College, 15 kills and seven digs against USC Aiken, and finished the week with a 19-kill, 28-dig performance against Lander University.
For the season, the 5-11 junior has a team-high 16 double-doubles (kills/digs). She leads the Peach Belt with a 3.80 kills per game average and stands fifth in service aces per game (0.48), 13th in hitting percentage (.214), and 14th in digs per game (3.11).
The 10-18 Patriots will return to PBC action on Wednesday when they travel to Savannah, Ga., to meet Armstrong Atlantic State University for a 7 p.m. match. FMU’s final home match of 2007 will be Nov. 2 against UNC Pembroke at 7 p.m.
Lombardi is a former All-Federal League selection and Stark County Player of the Year at Jackson High School.
