Mrs. Heyward has been with Francis Marion University since 1987. She began her career at FMU as Coordinator of Multicultural Affairs and joined the Counseling and Testing Center in May 2000. Before coming to Francis Marion, Mrs. Heyward worked at Bennett College in Greensboro, NC as an Admission Counselor, Trident Technical College in Charleston, SC as a Counselor in the EOC Program, and was a graduate assistant in the Counseling and Testing Center at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, while she pursued her degree in Counseling.
Mrs. Heyward received her Bachelor of Science from Bennett College, her Master of Education from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, and has completed all course work and comprehensive examination requirements and is ABD for her PhD in Psychology from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN.
Mrs. Heyward is a certified ADSAP and AEP Group Counselor, through the South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services and Prevention Research Institution and also a Human Services - Board Certified Practitioner. She has also completed training and other programs that include Crisis Intervention, North and South Carolina's School for Alcohol and Drug Studies and Psycho-Pharmacology for Clinicians.
