Q: Where is the Student Affairs Office located?
A: The central office for Student Affairs is located in the Smith University Center, on the second floor, suite 205.
Q: How do I find out about student organizations?
A: You can use the following link: www.fmarion.edu/students/studentorganizations or you can visit the Student Affairs Office. During our Welcome Week activities, there will be an organization fair on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 beginning at 11:00 a.m. and ending at 4:00 p.m. in the Smith University Center Commons.
Q: Where can I find a copy of the Student Handbook?
A: The student handbook is online at www.fmarion.edu/students/studenthandbook. The handbook contains the policies and procedures for the University along with valuable resources.
Q: What are educational records?
A: Educational records are those created to assist the offices of Admissions, Financial Services, Records, the Registrar, or Student Affairs in their support of basic institutional objectives. As the student, you control who has access outside of necessary faculty and University administration. Exceptions will be made regarding any information or situation that threatens the health and safety of the individual student or others in and around the campus community. See page 14 of the student handbook for more information.
Q: What is the University’s view of hazing?
A: Simply put, hazing is not allowed. Any student organization and/or individual found responsible for hazing will be processed through the University’s judicial system and are subject to suspension or expulsion. Though hazing is usually associated with greek letter organizations, this criminal practice can occur within any group that chooses to subjugate others as a means of gaining status.
