Welcome to the Parent's Page

As parents or guardians of a FMU student, you become a welcomed member of the Francis Marion University community.  Our goal at FMU is to provide your student with a full and impactful college experience as they move toward their chosen career and educational endeavors.

The Division of Student Affairs works closely with all aspects of the University in an effort to maximize the out-of-the-classroom experience.  Understanding the best practices for student development, we strive to engage students in activities, programs and services that enhance life skills, intellectual developments and personal growth.

There are five learning outcomes that Student Affairs utilizes to guide our work with students:

I.   Critical Thinking

II.   Personal Development

III.  Social Responsibility

IV. Cultural Competency

V.  Leadership and Professional Development

As professionals dedicated to student success, we know that there may be questions and concerns.  We are available to assist you and welcome opportunities to partner with you for the benefit of our students.  We view our students as young adults who need guidance and opportunities to explore and cultivate their development, so it is imperative that we provide policies and procedures that not only help in creating an environment conducive to learning, but a community the promotes and fosters growth..

In the section below we have provided you with some resources and links to assist you in getting more familiar with the campus. Should you have questions or need assistance, do not hesitate to contact the University and specifically my office at 843-661-1182 or you can email me personally at tramey@fmarion.edu.  I look forward to working with you.

With Patriot Pride,

Teresa Johnson Ramey, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
