LOCATION: Aiken Technical College, Aiken, SC

STATE SALARY RANGE: $48,622 – $69,289

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, Monday – Friday

 JOB DESCRIPTION:  

Under general supervision of the Vice President of Administrative Services, the Director of Facilities and Operations manages the planning, engineering and operations of the College’s physical plant facilities and manages the Emergency Response Program.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Manage facilities departments to include Building Services, Grounds, and Housekeeping. Responsibilities include preventative and routine maintenance of buildings, housekeeping, grounds, waste management and recycling services, and support of special events.
  • Oversee and coordinate the work of architects, engineers and outside contractors concerning all permanent improvement projects.
  • Manage budgets and other resources to maximize services needed to achieve a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty, and staff. Calculate and compare costs for required goods or services to achieve maximum value and adheres to policies and procedures related to procurement.
  • Manage the Emergency Response Program. Serve as College liaison for Emergency Response Programs.  Manage and update the emergency preparedness plan for facilities and all related documents, complete all required reporting, and coordinate safety training and drills.
  • Lead and supervise multi-disciplinary teams of staff including maintenance, grounds, and custodial workers to achieve the goals of the department. Coordinates with the security department for daily operations.
  • Participate in professional development programs, college and community activities and other duties as assigned to include providing input and data to the Vice President of Administrative Services for annual reporting.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology and four (4) years journey-level engineering work experience required. This position requires periodic completion of assignments before or after normal working hours; the ability to respond to after-hours emergency situations on campus as directed; the ability to work under pressure and to manage multiple priorities; local as well as some overnight travel; and the utilization of relevant information technology.
