Kay Packett has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Furman University and a Master of Arts degree in journalism from the University of South Carolina. She began her career in Washington, D.C. as a press secretary in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, working later in public relations for a major national trade association. She also served as senior communications officer for the State Department of Education in Columbia, S.C.
Ms. Packett is a mass communication associate professor and a communications consultant, with clients including the Department of Education, other state education organizations, and local districts.
