Doug’s Day Festival
On November 14, the entire FMU community will gather at the Smith University Center on campus for “Doug’s Day,” a special founder’s day festival featuring a concert by South Carolina music legend Edwin McCain. Doug’s Day is timed to coincide with the birthday of Dr. Doug Smith, FMU’s first president. The event will mark FMU’s first founder’s day celebration and will include food trucks, a beer garden, a DJ on the plaza and more, all capped by a performance by the incomparable Edwin McCain.
McCain, a Greenville native, produced back-to-back Top 40 hits “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask for More” in the late 1990s. Those hits, plus others included on his11 albums, have been part of numerous movie and TV soundtracks, and have helped make McCain a multi-platinum artist.
The McCain concert will be held in the University Center at 7:30 p.m.
The concert and admission to the grounds for Doug’s Day is free, and the event is open to the public. Register for a chance to win some free FMU Swag during the festival at http://bit.ly/DougsDayFMU.
