Description: Covers the literature of the United States from roughly World War I to the end and aftermath of World War II. Particular emphasis on literary Modernism and some attention to its underpinnings in intellectual history and postwar cultural shifts. Additional topics may include Imagism, the continuing relevance of Realism, regionalism, the Harlem Renaissance, the little magazine, the Nashville Fugitives, and the New Criticism.
