I am not Rick Steves, and this course will not simply become a travelogue featuring scenery of wonderful European destinations on impossibly cloudless days. It will be a group-centered learning experience for those who have never traveled to Europe as well as those who have traveled there. Recent occurrences impacting travel, e.g., new entrance fees for the EU, COVID requirements, etc., will be of special importance. Practical topics will include transportation, lodging, dining, clothing, shopping, emergencies, personal safety, etc. Cultural information concerning behavioral awareness, language expectations, holidays, stereotypes, “culture shock,” etc., will form the balance of the course. Much of the course will involve hands-on practice and personal involvement as well as information presented in the traditional academic style.
