Description: Introductory study of the normative origins of government, structure and function of different political systems, relations between nation states, and various methods and approaches to the study of politics. This course includes an examination of the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, the Emancipation Proclamation, and other documents pertinent to the founding of the United States and the African American freedom struggle.
