PRS 313 - Philosophy of Mind

Description: Includes a historical overview of theories of mind and consciousness, as well as an introduction to contemporary views. The course will focus on the nature of consciousness and the mind body problem. In particular, the topic of artificial intelligence - whether machines can think - will be discussed. Other topics will include the problem of other minds, the self and personal identity, freewill, and the relationship between belief and action.
