Awards Committee – To request and review nominations for The Coalition’s Diversity Award; and (2) to recommend a nominee to the executive board for approval.
Constitution and By-laws/Nominating Committee – (1) to update and revise the constitution and by-laws to reflect changes voted upon by a simple majority of The Coalition’s current membership present at the time of said vote; (2) to prepare a slate of names for officers of The Coalition voted upon by current membership via email.
Fundraising Committee – To plan and facilitate fundraising activities and events to maintain the financial stability of The Coalition.
Membership Committee – (1) to welcome new hires to FMU; (2) to recruit new members; (3) to encourage members to attend meetings regularly (4) to encourage participation in programs and activities of The Coalition.
Program/Planning Committee – (1) to plan programs that stimulate and enhance cultural awareness, and a sense of social responsibility among faculty, staff, students, and the community; (2) to plan and coordinate special events {e.g., banquets, galas, etc.} on behalf of the organization which promotes awareness and/or raise funds. Members are to serve on at least one of the following subcommittees:
• Professional Development Sub - (1) to plan and facilitate professional development opportunities for Coalition members; and (2) to collaborate with other campus and community factions regarding professional, leadership, and educational experiences.
• Cultural Awareness Sub – (1) To plan and facilitate the Cultural Conversations speaker series; (2) to organize and implement strategies for increasing cultural awareness across the FMU and greater Florence community. This committee will be chaired by the Coalition Vice President.
•Special Events Sub – To plan and facilitate the annual winter scholarship event and summer Juneteenth observation.
Public Relations/Web Committee – (1) to communicate and publicize the purpose, goals, activities, and programs of the Coalition to the faculty, staff, and students of the FMU community and the greater Florence community to encourage their support and participation; (2) to create and maintain an on-line site for the Coalition to promote its existence, purpose, and all other initiatives pertinent to the Coalition’s mission.
RRP&E Committee (Recruitment, Retention, Promotion, and Equity) – (1) to research and develop strategies to effectively advance equity in the recruitment, retention, and promotion of faculty, staff, and administrators; (2) to actively promote and encourage discussions and actions on these issues to produce quantitative changes.
Scholarship Committee – (1) to select scholarship recipients per the approved procedures: (2) to spearhead efforts that contribute to the maintenance of The Coalition Scholarships; (3) to create and facilitate professional development opportunities for scholarship recipients
