Painting should be fun, whether you’re learning for the first time, or brushing up on a skill. This course will introduce basic watercolor materials and techniques through still life and landscape studies. Even if you’ve never held a paintbrush before, you’ll learn to paint with watercolors in a way that is relaxing, fun, and not overwhelming.

Basic Transparent Watercolors (Tubes):
Aureolin (Yellow)
Cadmium Yellow Light
Yellow Ochre
Rose Madder
Cadmium Red Light
Indian Red
Manganese Blue or Cerulean
Ultramarine Blue
Cobalt Blue
Viridian (Green)
Indigo

Optional Colors:
Cadmium Orange
Peacock Blue (Holbein Color)
Opera (Holbein Color)

Flat Chisel Brush (1’ or 1 ½” Aquarelles are excellent)
#6 or #8 pointed round sable brush

Arches 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper (or paper you have
on hand and like to use)

Watercolor Palette (John Pike or similar one)
Scissors
Paper Towels
Sponge (flat kitchen type)
Staple Gun and Staples
Two containers for water
