Description: This course is designed for teacher candidates with minimal classroom experience. The course focuses on preventing problem behaviors in the classroom by helping steachers structure the learning environment, build positive relationships with students, and provide effective instruction to reduce problem behaviors. Participants will also learn strategies to help students make better behavioral choices. Evidence-based prevention and intervention techniques will be discussed, and participants will learn strategies for responding to inappropriate behaviors when they do occur in the classroom. Consideration of methods in the student's major content teaching field is emphasized.
