Assistant Professor of Developmental Psychology (24-21)

Francis Marion University and the Department of Psychology invite applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Developmental Psychology. The successful applicant will have an earned doctorate in developmental psychology. Applicants who are ABD with an imminent completion date will also be considered. Teaching is required in both the Department’s undergraduate and graduate programs, potentially to include such courses as lifespan development, child development, introductory psychology, and electives within their area of expertise. In addition, the successful applicant will maintain a productive research lab that involves undergraduate students.

The Department of Psychology (comprised of 11 full-time faculty) has approximately 300 undergraduate majors. In addition, it also has approximately 75 graduate students within three accredited/approved programs: Clinical/Counseling, School Psychology, and Applied Behavior Analysis. The forthcoming PsyD program (Fall 2024) will have a Rural Health Psychology focus, and the university has recently added an interdisciplinary Autism Studies Major and Minor at the undergraduate level.

This position is a standard nine-month, tenure-track academic contract (August-May) with the opportunity to teach additional courses during the summer. Internal funding for travel, research, and summer research stipends is available on a competitive basis. Francis Marion University also houses the Richardson Center for the Child, which is an on-campus, state of the art childcare facility that includes a developmental clinic for faculty research, training, and clinical intervention.
