Visiting Professor/Instructor of Chemistry – General Chemistry (24-57)

Francis Marion University and the Department of Chemistry invite applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position for a one-year appointment. Responsibilities of this full-time, non-tenure track position include teaching 12 contact hours (4-4) per semester for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters, holding regular office hours, advising students, and fulfilling basic service duties to the department and university. Scholarly activity and professional development are strongly encouraged and funding for research is available on a competitive basis.

Teaching responsibilities include general chemistry lecture and lab courses for majors, pre-nursing students, and non-majors.

Candidate should hold a minimum of a Master’s in chemistry or a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in chemistry. Some level of teaching experience in chemistry is required. A successful candidate will also have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts setting.
