In this eleven-week course, we will read about some infamous cases such as Susan Smith’s horrific 2006 plot as well as Alec Murdaugh’s very recent overturned conviction and what the retrial might reveal, perhaps as early as this fall. We will also go back in time to consider 1820’s Lavinia Fisher in Charleston, and the Pee Dee’s Pee Wee Gaskins, the Charles Manson of the South, according to some profilers. Each week, we will cover a case (or two) and determine if justice was served or if questions remain.
