This course presents a hands-on workshop on songwriting, demo production and publishing techniques. Beginning with critical listening and quality assessment, the course will then move through object-oriented writing, melody competency, harmonic structures and formal design. All of this will be discussed in a workshop atmosphere with genre considerations in mind. The class will conclude in the recording studio by making demo recordings of participants' songs. This course is appropriate for all levels of songwriters regardless of musical training or background.
