Major Requirements

A major in Healthcare Administration requires the following:

  1. Interprofessional Healthcare (IPHC) courses
    Courses may be listed under the department offering them

    1. IPHC 215/POL 215 – Introduction to Public Administration
    2. IPHC 301 – Professional Role and Practice
    3. IPHC 314/PSY 314 – Health Psychology/Behavioral Medicine
    4. IPHC 334/NRN 334 – Research in Practice
    5. IPHC 375/SOC 375 – Sociology of Health and Medicine
    6. IPHC 445/NRN 445 – Population-Focused Care
    7. IPHC 448/NRN 448 – Healthcare Policy Development
    8. IPHC 451/FIN 451 – Healthcare Finance
    9. IPHC 456/MGT 456 – Leadership in the Healthcare Environment
    10. IPHC 457 – Professional Capstone Course
  2. Minor/collateral requirements (two options)
    1. An 18-hour minor approved by the faculty adviser
    2. Two 12-hour collaterals approved by the faculty adviser

The minimum number of semester hours (major, all general education requirements, a minor or 2 collaterals, general electives) is 120.
