FMU graduate nursing program ranked among nation’s best

Francis Marion University’s masters level program in nursing has been ranked as one of the Best Nursing Schools in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.

The ranking is in U.S. News and World Report’s latest graduate school ranking, which was published today.

The graduate program is part of FMU’s School of Health Sciences and includes degree programs for Family Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Educators, Adult Gerontology Acute Care Practitioner, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. FMU launched its graduate programs in nursing in 2012. It has graduated nearly 200 nurse practitioners since its inception. In 2016, FMU also added a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program.

U.S. News’ annual rankings are based on a variety of factors including the resources available for faculty at the school, the number of degrees awarded, the percentage of faculty who are in nursing practice, and peer ratings from other schools.

More than 550 colleges and universities were considered in the ranking. FMU’s masters program in nursing was the highest rated of the three South Carolina programs included in the ranking.
