Two Francis Marion University ROTC officers commissioned

Two members of Francis Marion University Reserve Officer Training Corps program were commissioned as officers in the U.S. military Friday morning in the Thomason Auditorium, located on the University’s campus.

Second Lieutenant Alec Reed was commissioned as an infantry officer in the South Carolina National Guard.

Second Lieutenant Zachary Buzzetti was commissioned as an engineering officer in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Both officers will graduate at FMU’s spring commencement ceremony on Saturday.

Reed is a native of Aynor and has been a member of the FMU ROTC program since his freshman year. He will graduate from FMU with a B.A. in English.

Buzzetti is a native of Elgin and has been a member of the FMU ROTC program since his freshman year. He will graduate from FMU with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering.

Francis Marion’s ROTC program has cultivated a rich and diverse heritage since its inception in 1988. More than 100 officers have been commissioned during the program’s tenure, including a number of active-duty commissions within recent history.
