Rogers Library Annual Report, 2006-2007
· Served 172,256 in-house customers for a slight 3.3 % decrease from the previous fiscal year
· Provided 172,171 searches in electronic databases to which we subscribe
· Responded to 4,361 reference queries
· Taught ninety-two library instruction classes
· Conducted twelve library tours
· Conducted 50 tours of the hewn timber cabins to 1,115 students and visitors
· Circulated 17,157 items to users (a four percent increase over last year)
· Received 207 ILL books and 1118 pages of photocopied articles
· Lent to other libraries 712 books and provided 2028 pages of photocopied articles
· Received almost five times as many ILL requests from other libraries as we requested from them
· Lent over three times as many books and almost twice as many photocopied article pages to other libraries as we borrowed from them
· Increased access to full-text e-journals to a total of more than 21,000 titles.
· Expanded the collection to 399,093 equivalent volumes of bibliographic holdings
· Provided remote access to DISCUS, Collegiate DISCUS, PsyARTICLES, PsycINFO, MLA Bibliography, Sociological Abstracts, the Chronicle of Higher Education, Academic Search Premier, MLA International Bibliography, the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Health Source, Clinical Pharmacology, MEDLINE, ERIC, Computer Source, Military and Government Collection, and the Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection. Also, Business Source Premier, EBSCO Animals, Lexis-Nexis, Funk & Wagnall’s New World Encyclopedia, MAS Ultra - School Edition, and Primary Search
· Provided 1,498 current periodical subscriptions
· Increased the bound periodicals holdings to 53,429 volumes
· Added 298 volumes of gift materials
· Acquired 1,984 new books (a sixteen percent increase over the previous fiscal year, which had continued a trend in declining book acquisitions)
· Invested $ 715,883.04 in print and electronic resources—a 2.8 percent increase over the last fiscal year
· Allocated $13,687.50 to preserve resources
· Drafted Institutional Effectiveness Report Fiscal Year 2005-2006; James A. Rogers Library
· Continued to use consortia (PASCAL, SOLINET, Carolina Consortium, CAS Group) to drive down electronic resources costs
· Provided thirty-nine professional growth and development opportunities involving eighty-eight staff participations
