FMU’s Kassab Gallery to host abstract painting and ceramic galleries

Two of South Carolina’s most laudable artists will display their works through Nov. 9 at the Francis Marion University Adele Kassab Gallery.

Artists Colin McNaught, a Charleston-based abstract painter, and Greenville native Kelly King, a renowned ceramicist, will provide a wide array of expressions ranging from the cerebral to the flamboyant.

King’s current series of ceramics, “Wonky Ground,” explores the way objects are arranged within a landscape, with elements such as lawns, buildings and draperies. In addition to creating increasing interesting works of art, King is also an instructor at the Fine Arts Center of Greeneville.

McNaught’s works have become large, bold, geometric abstract paintings, leading to an interesting mix of the ordinary and the imperceptible. McNaught is a native of Scotland and originally began his professional career as a clothier.

Both exhibitions will remain on display in the Adele Kassab Gallery at Francis Marion University through Nov. 9. For more information, call 843. 661.1385.
