Narrative

Legislation for the establishment of Francis Marion University can be found in Chapter 133, Section 59-133-15, of the South Carolina Code of Laws, which officially declares that Francis Marion College became Francis Marion University on July 1, 1992 [1].  As indicated in the South Carolina Code of Laws, Chapter 133, Section 59-133-30, the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina authorizes Francis Marion University to confer degrees and operate as a state institution [2].
